PLATFORM
While I recognize that the existing strengths of Artesia are many, I pledge to explore the following in an effort to further enhance our city.
Transparency & Access
- Improved public announcements of important events like community workshops
- An updated recording/broadcast system for our City Hall meetings and uploading to city-operated Social Media.
- Making myself available to all residents as a public servant.
- Harnessing the power and popularity of Social Media as a way to ensure resident accessibility to our council members.
- Advancing Artesia as a business friendly and welcoming environment by reviewing and upgrading our City Hall business application. In order to be as attractive and competitive as some of our neighboring cities, Artesia can develop a faster, more efficient and diligent application process
Public Safety
- Improved emergency response times for all areas of the City.
- Ensuring our communities are both safe and inclusive for our youth including LGBTQ+.
- Increase involvement in Neighborhood Watch groups.
- Develop improved lines of communication with neighboring cities involving emergent criminal activity.
- Dedicated to implementing effective speed calming measures on some of the busiest high-speed streets in our city
- Advocating for stricter penalties for individuals engaging in spin-outs on our streets.
- Addressing sidewalk maintenance to ensure safety for all our residents, especially seniors and children.
Roads, Sidewalks, Beautification
- Prioritizing our Historical Walking Trail, finally cleaning up neglected and unkempt landscaping, and completing this now eight-year project.
- Fixing broken poles, street lights, our deteriorating monument signs, bringing back the Christmas lights on Artesia’s water tower and maintaining trees. Sometimes it is the small things that ultimately make a big difference in our environment.
- More attention to the most-needed areas of the City where graffiti often occurs.
Community Outreach
- Emphasis on communication via Social Media with City-sponsored posts.
- City-sponsored community online polls to survey residential and business-owner priorities and concerns.
- Employing an Outreach Director who focuses solely on community involvement, the unhoused, and making sure residents and business owners are aware of the services provided.
Smart Development
- Focus on looking at the “Big Picture” and determining how certain projects will affect the City in the long-run.
- Making sure new developments will not diminish Artesia’s historical character and charm.
- Listening to our current residents, making sure they are involved in development decisions.
